Salary: SCP 17 £28,770 per annum (pro rata)

Wareham is a Saxon Town in Dorset and is the gateway to the Isle of Purbeck, lying south-west of Poole and on the river Frome. It is a thriving market town where the past and the present co-exist happily.

The Town Council is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Caretaker/Grounds Operative to operate as part of a small team carrying out maintenance, caretaking and other works across all Wareham Town Council sites, open spaces, and other public areas.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they have relevant experience and a track record of being a pro-active team member. They must also be motivated and community focused and possess sound communication and organisational skills.

The position is permanent working 37 hours (5 days) across Monday to Sunday on a 4-weekly Rota, working one weekend in four. The 30-week salary can be spread across 12 equal monthly payments from 1 April to 31 March (annualized hours contract) or paid in full in the months worked (seasonal contract) depending on the successful applicant’s preference. There is the occasional need to be flexible and will be subject to an initial six-month probationary period.
