The
Frome Catchment
Voice YOUR opinion on the local environment Bournemouth University
and partners, including Dorset business Anatrack, are involved
in a unique EU project designed to assist policy makers with
integrating local knowledge into environmental decision making.
The study focuses on Dorset's River Frome catchment, which extends
from Arne Parish in the east to Beaminster in the west.
This landscape is rich in biodiversity, providing many important
ecosystem services (benefits that people derive from nature
e.g. clean water, food, timber, recreational access, carbon
storage).
An online survey has been developed that is open to all stakeholders
in the Frome Catchment. This includes local residents, tourists,
farmers, land owners, nature conservation organisations, local
government, game managers, fisheries and many others.
The data will be used to determine which aspects of the environment,
and the benefits that people get from it, are most important
to different groups - while also encouraging local people to
maintain and restore this important landscape.
