11th July 2008 Police Civic Day at Winfrith. Very interesting with the Chief Constable giving a strong message of just how great our Police are.
12th July 2008 spent most of day as guests with the Roman Catholics at St Edward King & Martyr Church, celebrating their 75th Anniversary. Good company, good food and great entertainment. Slipped off to open Stoborough School Fete. Again this was well attended and good weather. Judging the Fancy Dress was a novelty for the Mayor!

1st August 2008 Attended the opening of the Dorset Arts & Crafts at Bovington Middle School. That was a treat not to be missed.

12th August 2008 the Mayor & Mayoress and Sgt at Mace meet up with the Poole contingent in the Mayor's Parlour to discuss the first ideas on a possible Beating of the Poole Land Bounds next April 4th 2009. The organisers in the main being the Society of Poole Men. It is hoped to get a coach for this fab day ending in cream tea. All will be invited at nominal cost per head to cover essential overheads only.

13th September 2008 Sturminster Newton Civic day. Unfortunately due to the weather the cheese festival had been cancelled. The town itself made up for this with a splendid do in their new Civic Centre. We were a little green with envy!
16th September 2008 Wareham and Poole Mayors met up to discuss the coming Beating of the Land Bounds of Poole early in April next year.
18th September 2008 Commodore Mike Toombs invited the Mayor and Mayoress to lunch at the RYMC and discussed Wareham philately. Wareham PO had the first post stamp in Dorset in 1709. This was before sticky stamps of today.
